Agriculture of the Future with Ernst Götsch
My experience and professional dedication to plant improvement through the genetic enhancement of plants brought me to the conclusion that it would be more efficient to focus solely on improving the growing conditions we offer to our crops, instead of focusing on, selecting for, and creating pest-resistant genotypes of highly-productive crop species. The main tool necessary for attaining vigor, health, and high productivity of our crops is our skill for an intelligent employment of the dynamics of species succession and the creation of agro-ecosystems.

Ernst GötschCommercial Farmer, Syntropic AgricultureErnst Götsch was born in 1948 in Raperswilen, Switzerland, and migrated to Brazil in the early 1980s, establishing himself in a farm in southern Bahia. Years before, Götsch had decided to quit a research job on genetic enhancement at the state-owned FAP Zürich-Reckenholz (today’s Agroscope), after a disturbing questioning:“Wouldn’t we achieve greater results if we sought ways of cultivation that favor the development of plants, rather than creating genotypes that support the bad conditions we impose them?”

Tha k you for this information!
Greetings from Southern Brazil!!!
Congrats on inviting this brilliant teacher and practitioner who is working hard to restore ecosystems and transform poor degraded areas into productive ones : )

Thank you for rich information.

I have just started studying the topic of syntropic agriculture and it is really fascinating and stimulating.
Thanks alot for sharing this amazing experience
Nailed it! Should be criminal to participate in our own demise, selling products at the supermarket that slowly kill us and destroy the planet. Implementing regenerative practices and Education for the masses is the only way forward.
Thank you for your deep and thoughtful observation of the nature of man and the complex multi-faceted harmony of nature and of course the hope that we can find a way to fit ourselves into the food web sustainably of the macro organism- earth.
Thank you Ernest for being courageous enough to speak to the world In a language that is not your mother tongue. I salute you for bringing us your life’s work.
Thank you so much for this presentation!
This was a great webinar – thanks, Ernst!
I have been tree topping in our gardens, and it is great to hear about the benefits this brings to the fungal/soil community in terms of vigor and strength and the importance of creating space for more life to exist and thrive.
I really like the careful presentation of thinking, action, and philosophy. Sometimes it feels like clear thinking is in such short supply on our modern world, but not in the world of Ernst Gotsch!
Great presentation thank you.
