20 Years of Ecosystem Restoration with Paul Morris
Paul will explore how he transformed a former tobacco farm into a thriving hotspot for biodiversity! Over 20 years, he restored ponds, creeks, wet meadow, prairie, savanna, and forest on this 40 Ha property, enhancing the ecological function of the property for all creatures. He also ran a successful native plant business, growing 500,000 plants per year for restoration projects across Canada.

This is a brilliant, well thought out methodical approach to restoring seemingly un-saveable land. I am so inspired by Paul’s expertise and quiet passion.

This restoration is so amazing! So much great information.
Wonderful Info! I have never seen such a long (20 year) project. Tremendous dedication and fabulous results. So inspiring. Thank you!
Thank you
Great presentation, Paul, thank you. It has helped me to understand how much diversity is needed for effective restoration of habitats for mutually dependent species. Your willingness to experiment and document better ways of doing things will help many of us.
WOW! Both Paul Norris’s summit and seeing both Roberta Silva Rodriguez And Paul Norris out in the environment making those changes to help restore the environment was very inspirational and helpful in seeing what can be done…on different levels…working with what is already there in incremental steps. Thank you. So appreciate your work in putting this together.
I was very impressed with this program, and to think that I had lived through the same
years. I am beholden to the sponsors for this hiatus into hope.
Wow! great transformation of your farm. I hope more farmers will devote a portion of their farms to nature. We enjoyed seeing your journey. Thanks for sharing.
Paul is amazing! He has participated in many other restoration projects, including Urban restoration.
As he mentioned, he is the instructor for the Ecosystem Restoration Class offered through the Soil Food Web School. I am enrolled in it, and I love it. Also, I have learnt a lot and we are not even finished module 3 out of 4.
Thanks Paul for your dedication to helping restore the planet 🙂
This is a great presentation. It has given me great tips and new/added thinking modes to tackling my restoration projects.
I particulary like the information that Paul gives around the staging of plantings, and the timescales explicit in achieving successional change. Often the temptation is to think you can achieve results quickly, however, what is more important as he points out is to adopt an adaptive strategy.
Excellent.
