The Symphony of the Soil with Dr. Elaine Ingham
Dr. Elaine shares why dirt is such a problem in the world today, and how humans can partner with microorganisms and plants to regenerate living soil. Instead of management practices that are dependent on increasingly expensive chemical inputs, we can utilize BioComplete™ Solutions and the power of ecological succession to restore biological functions in our landscapes.

You could have a Certified Lab Technician do some testing for you. You can find them on the SFW School website under consultants

Hello from East Tennessee!
Sorry, but who has a microscope or a lab to hand?! Without those, how to establish the population of the soil?
I’ve been able to get pretty good resolution with phone camera microscopes. Haven’t tested it to this degree, but now I will.
You could have a Certified Lab Technician do some testing for you. You can find them on the SFW School website under consultants

Thank you for being here and posting your comments. We are working on a solution to the comment issue. When you comment, the page refreshes, and you lose your playback time. An interim solution is to duplicate the web browser tab, watch the video on one web browser tab, then comment on another.
Here in Brazil it is known that pineapple grows well at recently deforested soil, even without fertilizer. And bromeliaceae in general grows well over threes branches.
So, is it possible to say that pineapple plant grows better at very high Fungi/Bacteria ratio?
I will add your question to the question queue for Dr. Elaine’s Meet & Greet that will take place at 12:10PM PT today. If you can’t join, watch the replay.
Some weeds are beneficial

This was so so good! I want more. I’ve been telling my friends, facebook groups, all kinds of people. I’m so excited about this and already enjoying it so much. Thank you for a wonderful presentation. I would love to learn more about microscopy since I do my own goat fecal. I’d love to learn how to do my soils too.
that was great thank you. I have just bought a field in scotland, previosly used for a monocrop of wheat. I want to re generate the soil and in one third ofhte field plant a woodland.
Great session, thank you!! From Virginia

Hello Dr. Elaine, Could you please explain the difference between Regenerative Agriculture, Circular Agriculture, and Natural farming. Thanks, Ishita Devgan, Bangalore India
Hi from Gaspé, Québec, Canada!
Thank you so much for offering this!!
Thank you Dr Elaine for this fine approach.
what about weeds?
Hi Elaine: we are vendors at a farmer’s market and grow pesticide free and inorganic fertilizer free. We have livestock and utilize composted manure. One thing that I am noticing in the past couple of years is that our customers are more and more commenting on the flavour of our produce.
Thank you so much for this opportunity. My eyes are wide open, and I am looking forward to learning much more on soil health and regeneration.
I love Elaine!
Thanks Elaine. From Ontario
Hi Myles, I’m in Ontario too. Where do we get local compost? I don’t the municipal offered stuff, it may have bad stuff in it like walnut leaves so nothing grows. Willing to drive a distance from Golden Horseshoe! She did say local tho….
We are starting transition of 600 acre farm in southern Indiana to compost extract this year. Some of our ground is in the river bottoms and floods during the winter spring (and sometimes during the crop season). Accordingly, we need cover crops that can withstand flooding. As agriculture transitions to using soil-friendly practices (hopefully), there will be a lot of farmers with this same need. Are there any cover crops that will withstand flooding? Any other tips for managing river bottom ground to promote great soil?
Dr. Elaine, You hit it out of the park! This was an EXCELLENT presentation. Thank you!
Amazing lecture!
Thank you for the excellent presentation.
Right on! Thanks for kicking off the Summit with a solid overview on the Soil Food Web.
Amazing! I learned so much!
Where do I get local compost? I have searched nurseries …looks mostly like dirt. Other than grocery store bags that come from far away, there’s really nothing that looks good. How? Where?
Super! Elaine.
What a great video!! Thank for all the information!
This is so enriching, so grateful for the information shared. Many many thanks Dr. Ingham
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Thank you so much. Been following your work along with Stamets and Matt Powers. Thank you so much for all your hard work
I recently visited Disney World with family and got permission from both Animal Kingdom and Epcot to collect plant debri and mushroom mycellium to bring home, study and propogate to mix with my compost for more bio diversity as well. Right now I am rinsing in clean water to mix the liquid with Mollasses to promote the IMO from the materials for study as well. I love traveling.
Any advice when collecting like this to be able to bring out the best stacking functions in research and propogation for study?
